For Halloween we went to Uncle Bryan and Aunt Emily's house to go trick or treating in their neighborhood. Madalynn was a pirate this year.

Here's Maddy getting ready to go trick or treating. It took forever but we finally got her to say, "Arrrgh!" for the picture. When we finished, we went back to Bryan and Emily's for homemade chili, and Fred had a "gourmet" grilled cheese sandwich.
Ok, here are some pre-Christmas pictures. First, we went to have our picture made with Santa.

We went to a neighborhood in Round Rock where Santa and Mrs. Claus visit a friend every year. They really go all out decorating the front yard, complete with a sleigh and wooden reindeer. He sets up a schedule of nights for people to come and take pictures with Santa. The kids get to tell Santa what they want for Christmas and they get candy canes and a little toys after they're done.
Maddy wasn't too excited about sitting next to Santa, but she was ok with all of us sitting there. But she wouldn't tell Santa what she wanted for Christmas, although she did treasure the candy cane he gave her.
After the Santa pics, we decided it was still early and on the spur of the moment headed down to Zilker Park. Every year Zilker Park has the Trail of Lights. It's about a mile long walk of Christmas Light displays, and is a lot of fun. Unfortunately, the trail was closed because of a previous event, but we still made it over to the Zilker Christmas Tree of Lights.

It's kind of hard to see the tree in the picture, but it's really cool and big. There's always a huge crowd underneath looking up at the lights. These pictures aren't the greatest because the lights were reflecting in the camera lens, but trust me, Maddy had a blast!

Madalynn and Fred also took a few minutes to watch some guys make popcorn in a humongous kettle.

Overall, it was a great evening, although a little chilly. But I was glad we decided to go because the next few weeks are going to be so busy with everything else that's going on.
