Welcome to the World Brecken Wyatt

Brecken finally joined us Wednesday, December 2, at 5:18 in the afternoon. He weighed in at 10lb 1oz and was 22 inches long.

We got to the hospital just before 7am Wednesday morning for me to be induced. The induction itself started around 7:30am. At around 3:50pm we decided it was time for me to start pushing. After about an hour of pushing with minimal progress, the doctor was concerned that Brecken was possibly face up and that his position was impeding progression, but because the doctor couldn't get a good feeling of the baby's head he couldn't be sure. The other concern was that the baby's heartbeat was dropping with the contractions. It wasn't dropping enough to be considered an emergency yet, but it was still something they were monitoring closely. The doctor decided to try using forceps to help the baby down. If that hadn't worked we would have had to consider a c-section.

The forceps worked, Brecken was delivered safely, and he decided his first act of rebellion would be to pee on his mom. :-) Since then he's been a perfect angel.
